Mrs. Jens Halverson, 61, of near Decorah, died Friday, March 24, at the Decorah hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been a patient at the hospital three weeks and had been ill about six weeks.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, at the Winneshiek funeral home and at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. R. A. Ofstedal officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.

Pallbearers were her sons, Harry, Sidney and Duane Halverson and her brothers Selmer. Harry and Arthur Groth.

Miss Jessie Groth was born March 15, 1889, on a farm northeast of Elgin. She was a daughter of Halsten and Helene Groth, and received her education in the rural schools of Clayton county and at a business college at St. Ansgar.

After her marriage to Jens Halverson on the home farm in Clayton county on Feb. 23, 1916, the couple moved to Minnesota, where they lived until 1929. They came to Fayette county and farmed until 1933, when they moved to a farm near Decorah.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Harry of Sumner township, Sidney of Pleasant township, and Duane on the home farm.

Four grandsons and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Selmer Groth of Elgin, Harry Groth, Arthur Groth of Decorah, and Mrs. Albert Erickson of Erskine, Minn. Two sisters died in infancy.

She was a member of the First Lutheran church.
Funeral services were conducted at the First Lutheran Church, Decorah, on Tuesday afternoon.
