CHARLES CHESTER BARRETT 1884-1965

Charles Chester Barrett, son of William and Nellie Lawrence Barrett, was born October 4, 1884 at Brainerd, Minnesota.

He passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital on March 16, 1965, at the age of 80 years, five months and 12 days, following an illness of one week and five days.

Charles Chester Barrett was united in marriage to Hattie Schoonmaker on September 2, 1912.

To this union three children were born, a son Morvin Barrett of Elma, Iowa, and two daughters (Beulah) Mrs. Ralph Schissel of Elma, Iowa, and (Goldie) Mrs. Upton Peck of Postville.

Mrs. Hattie Barrett died in 1927.

On October 5, 1927 Charles Barrett was married to Mable Alta Burnham of Volney, who died in March, 1958.

He is survived by his three children; two stepchildren, Murl Gobin of Lime Springs and Lloyd Barrett of Lansing; one sister, Mrs. Goldie Elwood, Elma, one half-sister, Miss Gladys Dowd, Ossian; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He spent a good portion of his life in the vicinities of Frankville and Postville as a construction worker and mechanic. He made his home for the past seven years with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Upton Peck.

Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home Saturday, March 20, at 1:30 with the Rev Walter M. Martin in charge of the rites. Interment was in the Frankville cemetery.
