Gene Edward Meyer

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 22 at Zion Lutheran Church, Jubilee for Gene Edward Meyer of Brandon who lost his life in a motorcycle accident Friday, March 19, 1976. The Rev. Kenneth D. Thiele officiated. Graveside rites were conducted at the Brandon Cemetery by the Jesup American Legion Post.

Gene was born in Winneshiek county December 20, 1923, the son of Edward William and Tillie M. Schweinefus Meyer.

He was married to Wanda Mae Hand at West Union, May 12, 1946. They farmed in the Castalia and Frankville areas before moving to Brandon. He was co-owner of Brandon Farm Products in Brandon. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Jubilee and of the Pump-Scheer Legion Post at Jesup. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, his children, Mrs. Roger (Kay) Downs of Des Moines; Mrs. George (Kathleen) Estle of Presque Isle, Maine and Kirk Edward at home; his mother, Castalia, a sister, Mrs. Stan (Marianne) Higdon, West Burlington and Milton Meyer, Monona.
