Geraldine Meyer

This community was again saddened when the angel of death claimed little Geraldine Meyer, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Meyer, on Friday evening, May 31st, at 7:45 o'clock, after a several weeks illness from malta fever.

Little Geraldine was born August 8, 1930, and at the time of her death was aged four years, ten months and twenty-one days. On September 25, 1930, she was baptized in the American Lutheran church.

She was a lovable and beautiful daughter and brought sunshine and joy to her parents and brother during her short stay with them. Geraldine was taken sick the first part of March and since then has gradually grown weaker. She was later taken to the hospital at Decorah, where everything possible was done to relieve her suffering. Her parents brought her home from the hospital on Monday and she was ready when God called her home.

Besides her grief stricken parents she leaves one brother, Gene; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schweinefus, Sr. of Castalia and Mrs. Fred J. Meyer of Postville; 18 uncles and 28 cousins and a host of friends, all of who loved her dearly.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Castalia, Rev. G. A. Schmidt officiating. Interment was made in the Pleasant View cemetery.

The tenderest sympathy of all goes out to the sorrowing parents and other relatives.
