Rites Held For E. J. Schweinefus

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 31, at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, for Emil John Schweinefus, who died at the Veteran's Hospital at Iowa City, May 29. Mr. Schweinefus had been at the hospital for six months. The Rev Edgar Zelle, pastor of the church, officiated.

Mr. Schweinefus, the son of Christ F. Schweinefus and his wife, Martha, nee Arndt, was born in Clermont township, on July 7, 1899. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith as an infant and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Castalia on March 30, 1913. He spent most of his life working in the Castalia vicinity, and spent 18 months in the service of his country during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Bertha, Mrs. Henry Larson, and Elizabeth, Mrs. William Walsh; and a brother, Charlie. He is survived by two brothers: Frank of Watertown, South Dakota and Henry of Clermont, and many nieces and nephews.
