EDWARD BURTON MORSS.

The announcement, Monday morning, of the death of Edward B. Morss at his home about midnight Sunday was a surprise to the community. Although he had been in failing health for a year or more, his condition on Sunday was not materially different than it had been for some time. A sudden attack of heart disease was the cause of his death, and his illness was but of short duration.

Mr. Morss was the only son of the late Judge J. G. Morss and was born in Limaville, Stark Co., Ohio, July 15th, 1838, just sixty-two years prior to his death. He grew to manhood in Limaville and was married to Nancy Amelia Day, Dec. 27th, 1864. They came to Decorah at once and this has ever since been their home. To them two children were born—Burton B. and Clara Morss—who with his wife, mother and sister Mrs. E. M. Greene, survive him. Upon coming here Mr. Morss engaged in the grocery business with the late B. B. Greene, his brother-in-law. When A. W. Brownell was elected Clerk of Courts Mr. Morss became his deputy. After retiring from that position he was an assistant in the law office of his father and served also as justice of the peace. A few years ago when the Gold Cure was established he purchased the business from Dr. Crane and continued it for some time, finally retiring to a considerable extent from all active employment. Much of the past two years he has spent in looking after farming interests.

The funeral was held yesterday morning at the house at 10:30 o’clock, Rev. M. Willett officiating.
