Stanley “Stan” Falada, age 82, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Aase Haugen Senior Services, Decorah, IA.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Saturday morning.
Stanley John Falada was born on May 3, 1932, the son of John and Agnes (Shileny) Falada on the family farm near Spillville, IA. Stan attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in Spillville. He was in the U.S. Navy Feb. 1952 – Feb. 1956. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Fencl on Oct. 25, 1958, in Porcupine, SD, and they later divorced. Stan worked for Louis & Doris Andera and Don Mihm trucking in St. Lucas. In 1965, they moved north of Burr Oak and worked for Don Stead on the farm. In 1976, they moved north of Decorah, and he worked for Jewell Farms. On Aug. 6, 2012, he moved in the Aase Haugen Home.
Stan is survived by his four children: Tom Falada, Decorah, IA, Lori Falada, LaCrosse, WI, Sue (Jeff) Hazard, Rochester, MN, and Jane Falada, Eagan, MN. Two grandchildren: Thomas and Lizzy Hazard. Two sisters: Marie Balk, Decorah, IA, and Clara Pecinovsky, Elma, IA.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents: John Falada on Oct. 29, 1991 and Agnes (Shileny) Falada on Oct. 31, 2005. His son: James “Jim” Falada on April 15, 1996. Two brothers-in-law: Tony Balk and Lawrence Pecinovsky.
