Oelwein Daily Register, Oelwein, Iowa, Fri., 20 May 1927.
Decorah, Ia., May 20- Kenneth Ellingson is dead and Carl Jacobson is in the Decorah hospital with injuries of such serious nature that his recovery is doubtful, as the result of an automobile smashup last night.
The young men reside in Pleasant township, Winneshiek county and were on their way home when they lost control of their car. The machine turned over and Ellingson was killed instantly by a blow over the temple. Jacobson had not regained consciousness this morning.
Coroner L. B. Willis, who was out riding and came upon the scene soon after the men were found, states that they were some thirty feet apart and the car was forty feet from the nearest one. There was every indication that they were driving at terrific speed.
Ellingson was a single man. Jacobson was married on March 13 to Miss Martha Stevens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stevens, of Pleasant township.
(A news blurb in the Postville Herald of Thur., 23 June 1927, notes the recovery of Carl Jacobson.)
