Herb Kecker, 72, of Ridgeway, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the Wellington Place Rest Home in Decorah. A memorial service is at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.

Herb served in the U.S. Army from July 1966 until July 1968. One year was spent at a Marine forward fire base in Vietnam. Herb worked 42 years for Hovden Oil in Ridgeway. For the older generation, Herb will be remembered in conjunction with stock car racing in the late ‘60s and ‘70s.

Herb is suvived by his brother, Dennis, and his wife Gayle of Minneapolis; and four nieces and nephews: Leah, Kendra, Denise and Derek all, from the Minneapolis area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Grace Kecker of Ridgeway.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in memory of Herb to Peace Lutheran Church or the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Dept.
