The Frankville community was saddened by the sudden death of John VanWey at his home, Monday night, August 4, 1975. He had worked all day and died that night shortly after retiring.

John Van Wey of Frankville Dies Suddenly
Frankville (Special)

Funeral services for John Van Wey were held in the Frankville Presbyterian Church, Thursday, August 7, 1975 at 11 a.m. and conducted by student Pastor Don Patterson. Organist was Mrs. Leslie Laterman and a duet was sung by Mrs. Roger Sampson and Mrs. Merle Cook. Casket bears were Ray Treslow, Richard Olds, Norman Svendson and Robert Burns. Burial was in the Frankville cemetery.

John Van Wey, son of Claude and Lucille Crabtree VanWey, was born May 30, 1923 at Postville, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Frankville Monday night Aug. 4, 1975 at the age of 52 years, two months and four days.

On September 24, 1942 he was united in marriage with Irma Hesse. To this union were born six sons and two daughters. The family made their home in the Frankville and Castalia area. During the past few years Mr. VanWey worked as a roofer and painter.

He was preceded in death by his father Claude VanWey, step-father, Lawrence Miller, and an infant son, James Lawrence VanWey.

He is survived by five sons: Richard and Robert of Marion, Arthur of Elgin, Clarence of Monona, and Donald at home; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Dona Jean) Canon of Cedar Rapids, IA and Mrs. Leo (Sandra) Bodensteiner of Frankville. Thirteen grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Lucille Miller of Waukon and two sisters, Mrs. Dean (Catherine) Cannon of Manchester, IA and Lila, also survive. He was a member of the Frankville United Presbyterian Church.
