Lawrence Raymond Krambeer was born January 31, 1908 to Louis and Cora (Walters) Krambeer on the family farm near Monona, Iowa. He grew up in the Luana/Monona area helping his parents on the farm. He attended Bailey School, Grandmeadows # 5. Lawrence married Olga S. Livingood July 3, 1930 in Cresco, Iowa. They farmed in Clayton County for 15 years. In 1944 they moved to a farm by Frankville where they lived until 1948. They bought a farm in Glenwood Township where they farmed for 30 years. They raised a large family of three daughters and seven sons. Lawrence moved to Decorah after Olga's death in 1976. He had been a resident at Oneota Riverview Care Facility for the past three years.

Lawrence was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church and a former member of IOOF and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards and woodworking. He also enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren. He loved to bake cookies and always had popcorn on his table which is how he came to be called Grandpa Popcorn by several grandchildren was well as Grandpa Farmer. Lawrence passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility after a short illness, at the age of 95.

Lawrence is survived by nine children: Dolores Hughes of Frankville, Shirley (Homer) Evert of Newmarket, NH, Nona (Wayne) Stone of Lansing, Ronald (Carole) Krambeer of Cedar Rapids, Gordon (Mary) Krambeer of Hiawatha, Tom Krambeer of Overbrook, KS, Ned (Margaret) Krambeer, Dennis(Margaret) Krambeer and Jerry (Janice) Krambeer all of Decorah; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Krambeer of Cresco; one sister, Evelyn Meyer of Postville; three sisters-in-law, Helen Krambeer of Luana, Rosalyn Krambeer of Postville and Dorothy Schave of Clermont. Also surviving are 43 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 48 great great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Olga; a son, Lawrence, Jr.; a grandson, Brian Krambeer; a great great grandson, Shawn Hughes, Jr.; a great great granddaughter, Damani Viktora; his parents; two brothers, Arno Krambeer and Elmer Krambeer and two sisters, Ellen Koopman and Helen Bollman.

Casketbearers were Barry Hughes, Benjamin Sproston, David Cook, Jacque Mongeon, Raymond Watson and Craig, Alex, Daniel, Andrew and Wesley Krambeer.

Honorary casketbearers are all remaining grandchildren.

Burial was in the Glenwood Lutheran Church East Cemetery.
