Funeral services for Lewis Ihde were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Postville cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lewis Christ Ihde, son of Joseph and Dena (Teepe) Ihde, was born Jan. 7, 1901, in Frankville Township, Winneshiek County. He died May 17, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville where he'd been a resident.
He was baptized in 1901 at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, and confirmed April 16, 1916 at Zion Lutheran, Castalia. April 18, 1954 he became a member of St. Paul Lutheran, Postville. He received his education in rural schools in Winneshiek County.
On December 18, 1929 Lewis was married to Laura Schnuelle at the Lutheran parsonage in Castalia. They had five children. The couple farmed near Castalia until November, 1975 when they retired and moved to Monona.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Laura, 2 sons, Lorenz in 1932 and Larry in 1982; 2 sisters, Clara Ihde and Alvina Oestmann; and 3 brothers, Richard, Elmer and Alfred.
Surviving is one son, Leslie of Monona, 2 daughters, Rosalia Ehde, rural Waukon and Helen Ruroden, Monona; 5 grandchildren, Roger Winters, Bryce and Samantha Ruroden, Susan and Rodney Ihde; 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremy Winters; and 3 sisters, Welma Ruckdashel, Postville, Emma Ihde, Ossian, Frieda Linderbaum, Ossian.
Pallbearers were, William Ohloff, Don Fields, Kenneth Meyer, Bryce Ruroden, Roger Winters and Marvin Ihde.
