LeRoy Ihde

A funeral mass for LeRoy Ihde was held Monday, February 11 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Clermont. The Rev. David Ambrosy officiated. Carol Katsumes, organist, accompanied St. Peter's Choir, which was directed by Deb Matt. Michael Finnegan served as Lector, with John Kelly, Clint Coffin and Patrick Finnegan as Mass servers and ushers were Arthur Matt and Jim Matt. Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the St. Francis DeSales Cemetery at Ossian.

LeRoy Joseph Ihde, son of Richard and Alma (Meyer) Ihde, was born March 4, 1926 in Frankville Township, near Decorah, IA. He died Thursday, Feb. 7 1991 in Palmer Lutheran Health Center at West Union.

He attended the rural school Frankville No. 6. On August 27, 1956 he married Jeannette Elizabeth Ehler in St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church at Ossian with Msgr. V. J. Peters officiating. The couple had 5 children.

The family farmed near Decorah from 1956 until 1959. They moved to a farm near Castalia where they stayed until 1977. In 1978 they moved to their present home in Clermont, where LeRoy was employed by Valley Cooperative until 1983.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Clermont and the Rosary Society.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Joyce Ann, one brother, Donald Ihde and a nephew, Marvin Ihde.

Surviving are his wife, Jeannette; 3 sons, James, Clermont and Loren and Michael, both of West Union; a daughter, Lynnette Ihde, Clermont; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Marvin and Norman Ihde, both of Decorah; and 2 sisters, Jeanette (Mrs. Kenneth Schroeder), Castalia and Orma (Mrs. Milton Quam), Decorah.

Casket bearers: Scott Ihde, Charles Ihde, Kevin Ihde, Leo Schroeder, Alan Baumler, Kenneth Baumler, Darin Svenson and Terry Nowak.
