Services Held For Ruth Crawford

Funeral services for Ruth M. Crawford, 86, were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1981 at 1:30 p.m. at the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church in Frankville. The Rev. Robert Lueck officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.

Ruth M. Crawford, daughter of Jasper Everett and Susan (Waters)Marston, was born Dec. 29, 1894 in Cherokee County, Iowa. She died Feb. 14 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

She moved with her parents and brother to a farm in Madison County when she was ten weeks old. She attended the country school across the road from her home, then attended and graduated from the Earlham Academy and the University of Iowa. She taught in schools in her home county and Polk, finally coming to Frankville where she met her furture husband. Ruth and Lynn B. Crawford were married Nov. 30, 1916 at the home of her parents at Earlham.

They made their home on a farm on the edge of Frankville where they lived until the death of Lynn in 1955. She continued to live there with her daughter Jean until 1974 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. She was a member of the Frankville Presbyterian Church, the United Presbyterian Women and of Chapter P[F?] PEO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Harry and Ted.

Surviving are a son, Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Jean Shirley) Sampson of Frankville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Dean (Shirley) Foels of Postville, and Mrs. Greg (Sharon) Gowdy of Dousman, Wis., and two great-grandchildren.
