June Eileen Hauber was born June 26, 1920 in Decorah, IA, the daughter of Albert Hauber and Della (Scheidelmentel) Hauber. She graduated from the public school in Winneshiek County in 1935. On November 3, 1937 she was united in marriage to Francis Ryan at St. Agnes Church in Plymouth Rock. Together they settled into crop and livestock farming in Winneshiek County. To this union four children were born: George, Adelia, Frances, and Virginia. June was a busy mom who raised big flower and vegetable gardens, cooked wonderful meals, and baked goodies to keep Francis’ sweet tooth satisfied. They made their home on the farm until health forced them to retire in Cresco. On February 3, 2004, Francis passed away. Six years later June moved into the Cresco Care Center.

June is survived by two daughters, Frances (Al) Shindelar of Greenfield, IA and Virginia Shanahan of Rochester, MN; daughter-in-law, Loretta Ryan of Galesville, WI; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Marian Haskovec of Cresco, IA and Norma Jean Smith of West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, June was preceded in death by her parents; son, George Ryan; daughter, Sister Adelia Marie Ryan; two brothers, George and Gerald; and three sisters, Rita, Betty, and Rose.

June’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Cresco Care Center for the wonderful and compassionate care they extended to her over the years.
