Raymond O. Tollefson, 60, of Decorah died July 10 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester. A life long resident of the county, he was a farmer and had been employed at Luther College since 1970.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Paul Christenson and Pastor Albert Houts today (Tuesday, July 13) at First Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery with the following pallbearers, Don Wurtzel, Gerald Young, Verdine Barnum, Warren Palm, Walter Hovey and Marland Bjerke. Mrs. Paul Christenson was organist and accompanied the congregation as they sang hymns. Funeral arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
Mr. Tollefson is survived by his mother, Josie Tollefson, Decorah, his wife, the former Alice Erickson; three daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Pamela) Guy, Rochester, Minn., Mrs. David (Linda) Rhell, Des Moines and Susan Tollefson, Rochester; four grandchildren and a sister, Gladys Tollefson, Decorah.
Raymond Tollefson was born July 29, 1915, in Winneshiek County, the son of Olavus and Josie Tollefson. He attended rural schools and Decorah High School, and served overseas in World War II in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and had been made an honorary member of Alpah Phi Omega at Luther College.
Mr. Tollefson was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
