Gertrude Elizabeth Solheim, 88, of Williamsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 at the Williamsburg Care Center, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy with Rev. Gary Sears officiating.
Burial was Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Gertrude Elizabeth Solheim was born April 30, 1914 in Decorah, the daughter of Ingebret and Christine Knapstad Erickson.
She graduated from Decorah High School in 1932 and Parsons College in Fairfield in 1965.
She was united in marriage to Arthur G. Solheim July 3, 1936 in Winneshiek County.
Gertrude Solheim lived in Decorah until 1947, Fairfied, Iowa from 1947 to 1967 and Yuma, Ariz., from 1967 to 2000 before moving to Williamsburg.
She taught elementary school in Wapello and Jefferson counties in Iowa and the Craine School District in Yuma for 13 years before retiring in 1979.
She was a member of teh Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy and a live member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons; Robert (Janet) Solheim of Dardenne, Mo., and Eric (Nita) Solheim of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Myrna (Terry) Curtis of Williamsburg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Arla (Earl) Lyon of Decorah; five sisters-in-law; Ruby Erickson and Irene Erickson, both of Cresco; Olga Monsen of Carol Stream, Ill.; Ruth Solheim of West Burlington and Fran Jeffers of Decorah.
Gertrude Elizabeth Solheim was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Solheim in Oct. 1983; three brothers; Lyle, Don and Edwin Erickson and two sisters; Eloise Seiler and Dorothy Hagen.
