Stanton E. Erickson, 61, of Decorah, died Feb. 1, 1993 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were Feb. 3 at 11 a.m.at Decorah Lutheran Church, with Pastor Arland Braaten-Lee officiatiing. Pallbearers were Tom Anderson Jr., Gary Hall, Arnold Larson, Kenneth Larson, George McArthur and Craig Vine. Full military rites were by Helof-Holm VFW Post No. 1977 and Bernatz-Symonds American Legion Post No. 163. Burial was at Hauge Cemetery, with Fjelstul Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Connie Bolson was organist and Lynn Rotto was soloist. She sang "The King of Love My Shepherd Is." The congregation sang "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" and "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."

Stanton E. Erickson was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Decorah, the son of Stanton J. and Julia (Haugen) Erickson. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1950, and was in the U.S. Army from April 23, 1954 to Feb. 14, 1956. He was a military policeman for 17 months in Korea.

He married Beverly M. Gulbro June 30, 1957, at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. She is the daughter of Bennie and Myrtle Gulbro of Decorah. He and his wife made their home in Decorah after their marriage.

He was baptized Jan. 9, 1932, and confirmed Oct. 28, 1945, at Hauge Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed many outside activities with family and friends, including bowling, hunting, fishing, boating, and weekends at the cabin on the Mississippi River. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for the past 36 years as a fabrication inspector.

He was an active member of Hauge Lutheran Church, where he served several church council positions.

He also was an active member of the VFW, having served as commander of the Decorah Helof-Holm Post No. 1977, and was state commander for the Military Order of the Cootie.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; a sister, Shirley Ann (Mrs. Jon) Vine of Decorah; and a brother-in-law, Glen Larson of Decorah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathleen G. Larson July 30, 1987.
