Earl Bigalk, 47, died April 29, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a massive heart attack.
He was born Aug. 19, 1939, at Cresco, the son of George and Phillipine (Culver) Bigalk. He was baptized Oct. 1, 1939 and reaffirmed his faith in the rite of confirmation on May 17, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco.
He graduated from Harmony High School in 1958. He married Arlene Erickson at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church at Decorah, Sept. 16, 1961.
Mr. Bigalk hauled milk for the Granger Co-op Creamery for a few years. He owned Bigalk Construction from 1966 to 1974. The couple ran the Harmony Rec. Center for 20 years until 1983. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Fillmore County Cattleman's Association and the American and Minnesota Simmental Association. Earl was also a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Arlene, nine days prior to his death.
He is survived by his sons; Kevin and Keith of Austin, Minn., and Kendall, Karl and Kory of Harmony; and his daughters, Karolin and Karen of Harmony. He is also survived by his mother, Phillipine Bigalk of Harmony, and his brothers; Milton of Rushford, Minn., Raymond of Lime Springs, Iowa, and Mark of White Bear Lake, Minn.
Funeral services were held May 2 at Greenfield Lutheran Church, Harmony, with the Rev. Rolf Nestingen officiating.
