DIED.

GILMAN.--In Orleans Tp, Winneshiek Co. Iowa on the 25 of Feb. 1879, Mrs. Betsy Gilman, in her 84th year.

The deceased was born in Brentwood, N. H. Dec. 5th 1795, where she resided until 24 years of age, when she removed to the State of Maine, residing there until 1859, when she removed to Iowa. Her Maiden name was Prescott, an old and honored family name in New England, the ancestors becoming residents there in 1630. She was the mother of the late Mrs. J. G. Upton and of John O. Miles, also of four children beside them. The family consisted of three sons and three daughters, those surviving, being scattered from Maine to California. Ripe in years and loved and respected by her children, she has passed away to await the great hereafter.
