Victor Timp, age 91, of Calmar, IA, died on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2013, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 South Maryville Street, Calmar, IA, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, Calmar, IA, and also after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Monday morning.

Victor Albert Timp was born on November 9, 1922, the son of William and Louise (Wenthold) Timp north of Calmar, Iowa. Victor attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and then worked for area farmers until he was drafted in to World War II. He served in the US Army from 1944-47. Victor married Bea Lensing on May 10, 1949 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa. Together they farmed near Calmar for many years, until they retired and moved west of Calmar in 1980. In 2009, Victor entered the Aase Haugen Nursing Home. Victor enjoyed golfing, playing cards, watching the grandchildren, doing farm work and helping on the farm. Victor was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Halverson Giesen American Legion Post #266, and the South Winn Country Club.

Victor is survived by his wife: Bea Timp, Calmar, IA. Eight children: Kenny (JoAnn) Timp, Calmar, IA; Betty (George) Backes, Calmar, IA; Marty (Becky) Timp, Calmar, IA; Harvey (Clarice) Timp, Calmar, IA; Randy Timp, Calmar, IA; Lester (Connie Klimesh) Timp, Calmar, IA; Steven (Jolene) Timp, Dyersville, IA; and Rhonda (Curley) Todd, Calmar, IA. Grandchildren: Kendra (Shaun) Schmitt, Kerri (Dustin) Hammersland, Victoria (Derek Hinke) Timp, Ashlyn (Chris) Heins, Reed (Dawn Klimesh) Backes, Kayla Timp, Heather Schissel, Heidi (Egan) Colbrese, Michael Schissel, Kristi (Daren) Holien, Ryan (Michelle Rothmeyer) Timp, Nicole Timp, Brenden (Miranda Quandahl) Timp, Tracy (Alex) Howell, Lucas Timp, Jennifer Timp, Matthew Timp, Cami Timp, Wyatt Timp, Hunter Todd, Jaron Todd and Braiden Todd. Great grandchildren: Eva, Brexton, Jaxson, Mason, Kellan, Logan, Emma, Marlee, Kael, Kaden, Riley, Ivy, Nickolas, Keira, Ethin, Noah, Paisley, Jacob, Peyton, Madisyn, Dalton, Caiden and Kylie. One brother: Cletus (Roseanne) Timp, Hiawatha, IA. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Verda (Harlan) Mikota, New Hampton, IA; Mary Mulligan, Humboldt, IA; Esther Lensing, Calmar, IA; Marian (Norbert) Retterath, Calmar, IA; Esther Timp, Decorah, IA; Helen Timp, Spillville, IA; Bruno Lensing, Phoenix, AZ; and Stephen (Arlene) Lensing, Calmar, IA.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents: William and Louise (Wenthold) Timp. Four sisters: Gladys (Zeno) Huber, Beatrice (Leo) Schmitt, Agnes (Donald) Schneberger and Rosemary Timp in infancy. Two brothers: Lawrence Timp and Alvin Timp. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Roman Lensing, Roche Lensing, Daniel (Dorothy) Lensing, and Gordian (Valeria) (Gladys) Lensing.
