FATAL ACCIDENT--

The Decorah Republican chronicles an accident that proved fatal to Richard Smith, of Burr Oak. He was going home from Decorah with a load of lumber and when three miles out stopped at a saloon. After he started up, his horses started into a sharp run, he running beside the wagon. His foot slipped and he fell under the wheels, receiving injuries from which he died soon after.

Another "unfortunate" to be charged up to the monster, Intemperance.
