Linda Mae Mathilda Schultz, 70, Ossian, Iowa, formerly of Castalia, Iowa, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, Iowa. She was born on July 19, 1943 in Castalia, Iowa to Ralph C. and Vila Mae (Monroe) Schultz. Linda was baptized on August 1, 1943 and confirmed on April 14, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, Iowa. She attended Castalia Public School through the fourth grade, Frankville #8 School through the eighth grade and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1962. She enjoyed performing in plays, chorus, attending Luther League and would babysit for anyone who needed her.
Linda was united in marriage with Gene B. Stubberud on June 24, 1967 in Austin, Minnesota and they were later divorced. She worked as a Certified Medicine Aide for Aase Haugen in Decorah for ten years, a CMA and Medical Transcriptionist for the Good Samaritan Home in Postville for almost twenty years. Linda was the Sunday School Treasurer from 1957 – 1960, on the Zion Lutheran Church Council as secretary from 1994-1997 and president of the Zion Lutheran Church WELCA in 2000, she also sang in the choir at church. She enjoyed bowling (she was as a member of the Women’s Bowling League from 1982 – 1989), crocheting, painting by numbers and watching sports on TV, especially the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Twins.
Linda is survived by her aunts, nieces, nephews, a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vila Mae (Monroe) Schultz; grandparents, Walter and Eloise Schultz and Thomas and Ella Monroe and ex-husband, Gene Stubberud.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, Iowa with Rev. Dave Lenth as the Officiant.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until service time.
Inurnment will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa.
