Elgin Echo, Thursday, 10 May 1906.

Iver I. Hagen, who resided near Decorah, committed suicide last Friday, by hanging himself. He lived alone and the deed was not discovered until a couple days later when a neighbor found his body hanging in a shed near the barn. It is supposed that brooding over a law suit, which involved a few dollars, caused the rash act.

NOTE: A photo of his gravestone shown on the IGPP as in Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery lists a death date of 27 Aug. 1906. The newspaper containing this death accounting clearly shows a date of Thursday, 10 May 1906, in several places.
