Zachary Wisher, 14

Funeral services for Zachary J. Wisher were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, IA with Pastor Phillip Olson and Pastor Ginny Olson officiating. Interment was in St. Benedict's Cemetery in Decorah.

Visitation was held at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco with the Schluter-Balik Funeral in Decorah and the Conway Funeral Home co-conducting the funeral.

Zachary, 14, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home.

Zachary Joseph Wisher was born August 2, 1992 in Decorah, IA the son of Dale Engen and Teresa Wisher. He attended elementary school in Ridgeway, then went to Junior High in Cresco, and was now at Crestwood as a ninth grade student. Zachary was a good student and had received the Presidential Award in Academics during elementary school. He attended Sunday school and Bible school at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.

Zachary was active in football, basketball, and track. He excelled in football in high school. He raced go-carts with his dad for two years. He enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, fishing and hunting, a lover of the outdoors. Zachary liked to play Monopoly, work on crafts, and restore bicycles. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Waterloo Black Hawks,and the Chicago Cubs.

He enjoyed spending evenings watching old John Wayne movies. He liked to work on the farm and he was presently employed at Randy's Bluffton Store. He had lots of friends.

He is survived by his father: Dale Engen (friend Janet Wennes) of Ridgeway; his mother: Teresa Wisher of Ridgeway; one brother: Matthew Wisher of Ridgeway; his maternal grandmother: Daisy Wisher of Waterloo; his paternal grandmother: Doris Engen of Decorah; aunts and uncles: Joseph and Renee Wisher and sons of Hudson, IA, Linda Wisher of Boise, ID, Patricia Wisher of Waterloo,IA, Larry Engen and friend, Donna and son of Deocorah,IA, Ron and Mary Teslow and children of Decorah, IA, Greg and his wife Lisa Engen and their four children of Decorah, IA.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Joseph Wisher; his paternal grandfather: Gordon Engen; and an uncle: Thomas Engen.
