Died Alone and Unattended.
Dr. Jewell was called to Washington township yesterday to hold an inquest upon the body of Bernard Beckman who was found dead in his home where he lived alone. Beckman has been ill for some time with a disease that was pronounced incurable. He returned on April 14th from a La Crosse hospital where he had been for a month and stated that he felt much better. He was last seen on Thursday, April 21th, by George Schneeberger who contracted to plow his farm for him, a twenty acre piece of ground. Yesterday when Schneebergcr went to fill his contract, he saw no one about the place. Going to the window he looked in and saw Beckman lying in bed. Neighbors were called and further investigation showed that Beckman was dead and probably had so been for several days as he was already in a bad state of decomposition. A jury composed of T. H. and J. B. Huinker and Fred Etteldorf was impanelled and their verdict was that Beckman died from natural causes.
