Elvira Soukup, 72, services held today

Funeral services for Elvira Soukup, 72, of Ridgeway, will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 10, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with the Rev. Daniel Keppler officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Balik Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elvira died Saturday,May 6, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Elvira Celia Soukup was born November 1, 1922, in rural Ridgeway., the daughter of Edward Mzik and Regina (Lentz,Mzik,Rue). She graduated from Ridgeway High School.

On June 3, 1942, she married Herman Soukup at St. Wenceslaus. Two daughters were born to this union. They farmed the Soukup family homestead until Herman's death, July 12,1989. Elvira then moved into Ridgeway.

She is survived by two daughters: Elaine Doherty of Rochester and Rita Vittraino of Iowa Falls; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; and her parents.
