Roman Hageman, age 75, of Decorah, IA died on Monday, August 12, 2013, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013, at the St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Decorah (307 West Main St.), With Rev. Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the Freeport Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, there will be a rosary at 4:00pm. There will also be visitation Thursday morning after 9:00am at the funeral home.

Roman is survived by his wife: Sharon, Decorah, IA. Three children, Janice (Charles) Berg, Castalia, IA, John (Deana) Decorah, IA and Julie Hageman (friend Todd Larsen), Waukon, IA. Seven Grandchildren: Jason Berg, Iowa City, IA, Kyle Berg, Wellman, IA, Megan, Josie, and Noah Hageman, Decorah, IA, Nathan Suckow, Ames, IA, Carley Looney, Postville, IA. Three Great Grandchildren: Julian, Carter, and Jaylinn. Sister: Rita (Joe) Menne, Viroqua, WI. Brothers in law: Daryl (Dorothy) Palmer, East Olympia, WA, Kevin Palmer, East Olympia, WA, Harlan (Diane) Palmer, Decorah, IA, Jim (Alice) Palmer, Castalia, IA. Sisters in law: Mary Ellen (Paul) Farley, Waukon, IA, Linda (Gerry) Johnson, Decorah, IA, Lois (Richard) Matter, Decorah, IA. Mother in law: Viola Palmer, Decorah, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John (Elizabeth) Hageman. Two sisters: Agnes Bottema, Ida Hageman (died in infancy). Two brothers: Thoedore Hageman, Leo Hageman. Daughter: Jennifer Hageman (died in infancy). Grandson: Jonah (died in infancy). Father in law: Clair Palmer, Brother in law, David Palmer.
