George William Smith, 96, of Decorah, passed away at his home Sunday, July 7, 2013. A celebration of his life is July 12, from 4-8 p.m. at his home, with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. George is survived by Belva, his wife of 73 years; one son, Jerry; a daughter, Dixie Hutchinson (Tim); and a daughter-in-law, Janet, all of Decorah; 12 grandchildren: Jake and Casey Smith, Ember Martinez (Enrique), Heather Smith, Tammy Smith, George Smith (Renee), Tina Tupy (Mike), Terri Fitterer (Charlie), Nicolle Korsness (Paul), Brooke Little (Mike), Lee Hutchinson, April Bril (Jeremy); 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; as well as by special extended family members Art and Phyllis Sass, Glen Sass and Tom (June) Schuster. George was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; his two sons, Bill and Ronnie Smith; one daughter, Luanne, in infancy; and one great-grandson, Brennan Hutchinson.
