Gary Sorenson funeral services held Aug. 28

Funeral services for a former Decorah man, Gary Sylvester Sorenson, 40, were held Aug. 28, 1981 at First United Methodist Church in Decorah.

The Rev. David Ash officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Corrine Goellnitz was organist and Phyllis Willer was soloist. Burial was in Phelps Cemetery with Daryl Fry, Robert Sorenson, Eric Witzke, Thomas Ramsey, James Benesh, and Eugene F. Johnson serving as pallbearers. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sorenson was found dead at his home in Cedar Rapids on Aug. 25.

He was born Jan. 25, 1941 in Decorah, the son of Sylvester and Marjorie (Rekward) Sorenson. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1959 and was in the armed services in Germany in 1966. He lived in Cedar Rapids where he worked as a truck driver for BFC Transportation Co.

He is survived by his parents, four daughters, and two brothers, Arlin Sorenson, La Crescent, Minn. and Allan Rekward, Decorah.
