Retired farmer, Julius Myrah, 91, dies in Decorah
A former area farmer and caretaker at Glenwood Lutheran church, Julius Myrah, 91, died September 27 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 29 at First Lutheran church with Pastor Paul Christenson officiating at 10 a.m. William Kuhlman was organist and hymns were sung by the congregation. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Burial was in the Big Canoe Lutheran cemetery. Harold Erickson, Marvin Onsager, Nathan Onsager, Earl Erickson, Harley Fagerlie and Ernest Vine were pallbearers.
Julius Myrah was born June 8, 1887 in Ada, Minn. to Andrew and Caroline Myrah. He was educated in rural schools and attended Breckenridge Business School. He lived his entire life in the Decorah area and farmed. He had been the caretaker at Glenwood Lutheran church for several years and was a member of First Lutheran church. For the past 15 years he made his home with his cousin, Emma Blagen.
Survivors include two brothers, Carl Myrah and Ingvald Myrah of Decorah and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Severson and Mrs. Ida Boe, both of Silverton, Ore.
His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
