Rites Held Today For Mrs. Rustad at St. John's Lutheran
Funeral services for Mrs. Abe Rustad, 58, were held today (Thursday) at 1 p.m. at the Steine Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Locust. Burial was in Washington Prairie Cemetery, the Rev. Glenn Vanderbilt officiating.
Mrs. Rustad died Monday morning at the Decorah Hospital where she had been a patient since Janurary 9.
The pallbearers were Andrew Spilde, Iver Spilde, Ingolf Hovey, Clarence Hovey, Thomas Haugen and Telferd Estrem. Members of the flower committee were Mrs. Thomas Haugen, Mrs. Ingolf Hovey, Mrs. Clarence Hovey, Mrs. Telferd Estrem, Mrs. Virgil Stortz and Mrs. Charles Seaton.
Mrs. Rustad, the former Olena Lomen, was born October 16, 1896 in Springfield Township, the daughter of Evan and Anna Lomen. She received her education in local rural schools and has lived in the Decorah vicinity during her entire life.
She was married March 17, 1915, at Washington Prairie to Abe Rustad who survives.
One son Edward and a daughter Adeline preceded her in death. The following children survive: Otis and Russell Rustad, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Tollefsrud, Mrs. Allen (Virginia) Holkesvik and Mrs. Lowell (Shirley) Faldet, all of Decorah.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren. One sister, Emma, also preceded her in death.
