Kitty Flaskerud

Funeral services for Kitty Agnes Johanna Flaskerud, 80, of Calmar, were conducted June 10 at 1 p.m. at Calmar Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Flaskerud died June 6 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

Officiating clergyman was the Rev. Timothy Wiggins. Organist was William Bravener, accompanying congregational singing.

Burial was at the Calmar Lutheran Cemetery, with French Funeral Home of Calmar in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Norman, Harold, Lester and Carl Hjelmeland, Paul Hackman and Richard Shindelar.

Kitty Agnes Johanna Hjelmeland was born Oct. 12, 1907, in Bergen, Norway, the daughter of Reindhart and Oleanne Groneng Hjelmeland. She was united in marriage to K. Henry Flaskerud July 11,1932, at Calmar Lutheran Church.

They farmed in the Calmar area all their married life. He preceded her in death in 1969.

Mrs. Flaskerud was a member of Calmar Lutheran Church, and enjoyed music, having served as church organist for over 50 years.

She is survived by two sons, David of Decorah and Richard of Knoxville; one daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Ed) Jaster of Spring, Texas; one brother, Robert of Decorah; two granddaughters, Jackie (Mrs. Brian) Bangen of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Jenny of Spring, Texas. She was preceded by her parents, her husband and one brother, Conrad.
