Postville Review, Fri., 25 Dec. 1914.
A lamentable accident happened on Tuesday forenoon a few miles west of Frankville, on the Decorah road, that caused the death of Frank Lauer, a highly respected resident of that locality. Mr. Lauer was in the timber and a tree he had just cut in falling caught temporarily in the branches of an adjoining tree. As it crashed to earth a limb on the tree felled which had been bent inward in falling sprung outward with fearful force, the recoil striking Mr. Lauer on top of his head, crushing his skull and killing him instantly. Mr. Lauer was about 35 years of age and leaves a wife and two children.
