FATAL ACCIDENT

Mr. John Wholehan, an old settler in the western part of Winnesheik{sp} county, came to his death by being run against by the business car going east, near Ridgway{sp}. He was walking up the track toward the approaching train, and left the track as it neared him but was near or else stumbled and fell toward the car and was struck by the bumper killing him almost instantly. No blame attaches to the employees of the road for the accident. His remains were taken to Ridgway{sp} on the train, and buried on Sunday last. He leaves a valuable property near Mr. Garland's.
