Thomas Letchford died at his home two miles northwest of Frankville. March 1st, 1902, at the age of 50 years. Deceased was apparently in good health until last Tuesday evening. He was in Frankville about 6 o’clock, and while returning home was taken with what was supposed to be cramps of the stomach. Dr. Wilcox was called about 7 o’clock, and found him suffering in¬tensely with a very bad case of appendicitis. He had been working very hard in the timber that day, lifting heavy logs, and something seemed to give away in his side. It is supposed he ruptured an intestine. He continued about the same until Saturday morning, when he was taken worse and died at half-past eight. Thomas Letchford was born in Indiana, February, 1852 and moved to Iowa with his parents, where he has since resided. He was married twice. The first time in July, 1876, to Miss Ellen Logsden, near Ossian, who died five years later with consumption. In November, 1883, he was married to Miss Emma Cresey, who with four children--Mabel, Glen. Leora and Vernie, all by the last marriage are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. This is a sad blow to Mrs. Letchford, as she experienced the loss of a father only a few months ago. Four brothers and two sisters also survive him -J. H. Letchford, of Michigan, George, of Estherville, Charles, of Council Bluffs, Landon Letchford, Mrs. J. L. Webster and Mrs. Betsy Bollman, of Frankville. George Letchford and L. H Cresey, Mrs. Letchford’s brother, of Chicago, arrived yesterday. J. B. and Charles are expected today. The funeral services will be held Tuesday forenoon at the M, E. church, Rev. C. W. Burgess officiating, with interment in the Centennial cemetery.
