Duncan McMartin was born on River's Range, Province of Quebec, Canada, Feb. 27, 1830: died at Castalia, Iowa, Nov. 11, 1908, aged 78 years, 8 months and 12 days. He came to Bloomfield township, Winneshiek Co., in 1855, and resided there ever since, except for four or five years that he spent in New Mexico for his health. He was always afflicted with acute asthma, which with old age caused his death. He leaves his wife, two brothers, D. A. McMartin of Castalia, and M. A. McMartin of Pennsylvania, and one sister, Mrs. Martha De LaRond of St. Andrews, Province of Quebec, Canada. The funeral was conducted Thursday afternoon from the United Brethren church, Castalia, Rev. J. W. Bonnell officiating. Interment in Unaversalist cemetery.
