James Ondrasek Dies In Cresco Hospital
James Ondrasek, retired Cresco farmer, died in the Cresco hospital this morning following a lingering illness.
Funeral arrangements have been tentatively set for Saturday morning at Saint Joseph church. The Rev. Roman Schares, pastor, will offer the mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Peckosh Funeral home.
Mr. Ondrasek is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Gertie) Wendl and other relatives.
James Ondrasek Funeral Services Saturday Morning
A requiem mass was offered in the Cresco Saint Joseph Catholic church Saturday morning for James Ondrasek, 80, retired Cresco farmer and businessman, who died in the Cresco hospital Wednesday morning following a lingering illness.
Offering the funeral mass was the pastor, the Rev. Roman Schares. Burial was in the Schley Holy Cross cemetery with the Peckosh Funeral home in charge of the arrangements.
James Ondrasek, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Ondrasek, was born near Spillville, in Winneshiek county, July 31, 1881. He attended the rural schools of Howard county and was a resident of this community all his life.
Mr. Ondrasek was married to Frances Malek, October 17, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Ondrasek became the parents of two children, one of whom survives. A son, Edward, preceded his father in death.
Surviving Mr. Ondrasek are his wife, Frances, a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Gertrude) Wendl of Cresco, two grandsons, Joe and Richard Wendl of Cresco, and two great-grandsons.
There are also a brother, Joseph Ondrasek of Cresco, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hron of Protivin, and Mrs. Frank Meier of Elma.
Preceding Mr. Ondrasek in death, in addition to his son, Edward, were two brothers and one sister.
Relatives and friends from Bloomer, Wisconsin, and Elma, Protivin, Spillville, Calmar, Riceville, Schley and Lourdes attended the funeral services.
