Alphonse (Fonse) Tieskoetter

Alphonse (Fonse) J. Tieskoetter, 87, of Ossian, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his home with his family by his side. Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 3-8 p.m. at the St. Francis De Sales Church. A celebration of life service is Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis De Sales Church, with inurnment in St Francis De Sales Cemetery.

Alfonse John Tieskoetter was born Sept. 14, 1925, near Festina, the son of Bernard and Mary (Elsbernd) Tieskoetter. Alphonse married Anita Marie Thuente June 4, 1947, in Festina; and to this union nine children were born. Together Fonse and Niddy farmed in the Ossian area for over 40 years. Alphonse was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and upon his retirement he continued his love of the land by gardening and fishing. He enjoyed playing cards with many lifelong friends, reading and spending time with his family. Online condolences may be left by visiting iowacremation.com under obituaries.

Survivors include his wife Anita of Ossian; children Dorothy Hackman of Chandler, Ariz., Terri (Tom) Bushman of Ossian, Dave Tieskoetter of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Steve (Jan) Tieskoetter of Austin, Minn., Marty (Deb) Tieskoetter of Ossian and Randy (Kim) Tieskoetter of Ossian; sister Agatha Hoffman of Ionia, 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.

Alphonse was preceded in death by an infant son; two infant daughters; parents Bernard and Mary; brothers Joe, Paul, Frank, Louis and Felix; sisters Helen Hemesath and Hedwig Hoffman.
