Keith (Pete Rogness) Purviance

Keith (Pete Rogness) Purviance, 78, of Decorah, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside services with military rites are at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Russell Cemetery, Decorah, with Rev. Allen Vik presiding.

Keith Ray Purviance was born March 26, 1934, the son of John and Marie (Pfisler) Purviance in Mason City. Keith lived with area families and attended Decorah country schools. He served in the US Marine Corps from Jan. 25, 1954 to Jan. 26, 1956. Keith was an avid outdoorsman and loved to be in the woods, where he loved to deer, coon and mushroom hunt. He worked at the Decorah Sales Commission, where he helped load cattle. Keith was a member of the Shepherd’s Chapel, Gravett, Ark.

Keith is survived by his son, Forrest (Susie) Purviance, Denver, Colo.; one grandson, Justin; two great-grandchildren, Justin JR and Cody; along with many friends in Decorah, including Lowell “Buzz
Bruening and family, Pat and David Fitch and Joel and Janet Thompson and family.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Shannon Purviance and one grandson, Dustin.
