Donald “Donnie” Vick, age 64, of Ridgeway, IA, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012, at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, in Calmar, IA, with Rev. Richard Lacey presiding.

Military rites will be performed at the grave by the Clarence Bily American Legion Post #467, Spillville, IA.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah.

Donnie is survived by his wife: Ila Mae Vick, Ridgeway, IA. Three children: Tammy (Dale) Good, Buffalo Center, IA; Jamie (Amber) Vick, Oelwein, IA; and Jenny (Don) Engelhardt, Ridgeway, IA. Nine grandchildren: Mitch Carpentier, Taylor Carpentier, Onna (Kris) Guthart, Alex Good, Mandi Good, Dalton Vick, Alysara Vick, Austin Engelhardt and Kandace Engelhardt. Two great grandchildren: Kyhanna & Karter Guthart. Siblings: Rod (Donna) Vick, Cedar Rapids, IA; Greg (Kathy) Vick, Decorah, IA; Bobbie Matthews, Eugene, OR; Cathy (Todd) Scheidel, Clermont, IA; Harlan Vick, Phoenix, AZ; Mike (Jennifer) Vick, Ellison Bay, WI; Sally (Jim) Tieskoetter, Castalia, IA; Wanda Schroeder, Prairie du Chien, WI; and Larry (Karen) Berg, Castalia, IA. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Ron Hovey, Fort Collins, CO; Ed Fadness, Fort Collins, CO; Larry & Pat Houdek, Cresco, IA; Steven & Janet Houdek, Calmar, IA; Karen Jertson & Butch, Dubuque, IA; Pat Houdek & Eric Witzke, Cedar Rapids, IA; Deborah Strasser & Dennis Frimml, South Amana, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father: Vernon Vick on Jan. 3, 1996 and his mother: Mildred Vick on Sept. 3, 2002. Three sisters: Janet Harkness on July 22, 1996; Joan Hovey on Feb. 15, 2003; and Ruth Fadness on Feb. 9, 2011. Father and mother-law: Gabriel in 1987 and Viola Houdek on Jan. 21, 2006. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed Jertson on May 15, 2005; Loretta Marhoul in 1983; George Marhoul in 2005; and Luanne Houdek in infancy. Nieces and nephews: Adrian Vick, Kayla Marie Vick, Shon Houdek and Randy Hovey.
