Paul Doubek, age 81, of Ft. Atkinson, IA, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ft. Atkinson, IA with Father Nick March presiding. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Ft. Atkinson, IA.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Thursday at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home Chekal Chapel in Ft. Atkinson. There will be a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. There will also be visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday morning.

Paul Edward Doubek was born October 18th, 1930 outside of Fort Atkinson, Iowa to Edward and Agnes (Vondas) Doubek. He attended school in Fort Atkinson, graduating in 1948 from Fort Atkinson High School. After high school, in 1951, Paul enlisted in the US Navy where he served until 1954. After returning home, he met Phyllis Halverson. They married July 6th, 1957 at St. Benedicts in Decorah. Together they had four daughters. Paulette, Janet, Sandy and Julie. He worked construction with his father and was employed at Calmar Manufacturing in Calmar for 34 years until his retirement in May of 1995.Paul enjoyed every aspect of baseball. He donated countless hours building the Ft. Atkinson Town Team program as well as the Fort Atkinson Little League program. During the summer months Paul could be seen sitting on a bucket of balls in or near the dugout! Paul was also an avid Turkey Valley, South Winn and Cubs fan! He also enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren and great grandchildren at all their activities. Paul was a member of the Turkey River VFW Post #3902 and Huber – Steffes American Legion Post # 672 in Fort Atkinson, IA

Paul is survived by his wife, Phyllis Doubek. His children: Paulette Doubek (special friend, Mark Balik), Janet (Scott) Monroe and Sandy (Tony) Runkel. Five grandchildren: Nicole (Brian) Ondrashek, Darin (Fiancé Amanda Dahlseng) Monroe, Ryan Monroe, Alaina Runkel, Lisa Wenger. Great Grandchildren: Madisen, Dayten, Annisten and Lauren Ondrashek, Max and Ally Wenger. Sisters-in-law: Bev (Elliott) Christian, Harriet (Orlin) Hovey, and Dorothy Doubek as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Paul is preceded into death by his parents: Edward and Agnes Doubek, Daughter: Julie Doubek. Father and Mother-in- law: Norman and Irene (Teslow) Halverson, Two brothers: Vic (Shirley) Doubek and Chuck Doubek.
