Wendy Ellen Jensen, 55, of Ames, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011. Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 22, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial is in the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah.
Wendy Jensen was born March 27, 1956, in Decorah to Kenneth and Elinor (Rolfs) Jensen. She grew up in Story City, and graduated from Roland-Story City High School in 1975. In 1996, she graduated from Iowa State University, majoring in anthropology and minoring in horticulture. She was an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and bible school. She loved people, especially her beloved nieces and nephews; two were godchildren. She also loved playing piano, gardening and bird watching. She volunteered at Mary Greeley Medical Center and with the Republican Party.
She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Elinor Jensen, of Ames; two brothers, Gary (Jody) Jensen, of Viroqua, Wis., and Alan (Ann) Jensen, of Jefferson; two sisters, Kris (Tom) Grotheer, of Ames and Lori (Tim) Spink, of Bellingham, Wash.; seven nieces and nephews, Sarah and Katie Jensen, Matthew and Karl Grotheer, and Jared, Ryan and Ashley Spink.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Eric and Phyllis Jensen and maternal grandparents, Harvey and Ellen Rolfs.
