Milton Stevens

Milton Stevens, 75, of Saratoga, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco. A Celebration of Life Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Hampton, with inurnment at a later date in the Burr Oak Cemetery, rural Decorah.

Milton Dean Stevens was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County, the son of Clarence and Vada (Roney) Stevens. He attended the rural school near his home and graduated from Decorah High School. On Nov. 18 1956, Milton was united in marriage to Ruth Wernett in Cresco. They became the parents of two children, Mark and Faith. Milton and Ruth farmed in Winneshiek County. In earlier years, he enjoyed coon hunting and deer hunting, and in later years enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved sharing the Bible with family, friends and others.

Milton is survived by his children, Mark of Spring Grove, Minn. and Faith (Wade) Duryee of Elma; eight grandchildren: Julie (Wade) Bolson, Wendy Stevens, Mike (Amber) Stevens, Brian Stevens, Jarred Stevens, Brittany Fluggum, Devin Fluggum and Felisha Fluggum; five great-grandchildren: CaeLynne and BreaLynne Stevens; Emily and Jonathon Bolson; and Katrine Fluggum; two brothers, Lowell (Sandy) McLain of Spring, Texas, Darryl (Marie) McLain of Cannon Falls, Minn.; one sister, Lois (Bernie) Phillips of Spillville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth, in 2010; a son, Kendall Stevens; one great-granddaughter, Andreah Fluggum; one sister, Colleen Wenthold; and his step-father, Earl McLain.
