Wemette

Francis Alfred Wemette, son of Joseph and Amelia Wemette, was born at Burr Oak, Iowa, July 15, 1866. He was stricken with pneumonia December 22, 1944, and passed away Thursday morning February 8, 1945, at the home of his son Harry, where he was patiently cared for. Mr. Wemette was united in marriage to Lillie Belle Lawrence on April 14, 1892, at Lesterville, S. D. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary April 13, 1942.

To this union was born five children: Oscar of Milwaukee, Wis.; twins, Joseph of Viroqua, Wis., and Florence (Mrs. R. E. Jones), Howard and Harry of Lime Springs.

Mrs. Wemette preceded her husband in death Aug. 28, 1942. Mr. Wemette is survived by the 5 children, 14 living grandchildren. Lawrence Wemette, son of Oscar and the oldest grandchild was killed in an airplane crash in England, while in the service of his country. Four great grandchildren, besides 2 sisters, Mrs. Josephine Cox of Davenport and Mrs. Maud Emery of Decorah.

House services were conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. E. Jones, followed by services at the Chapel with interment in the Burr Oak cemetery.
