Mrs. J. R. Lehman

Funeral services for Mrs. J. R. Lehman, who passed away at a hospital at Waukegan, Ill., on Saturday, June 23, following an operation, were held Tuesday June 26, at 2 o’clock at the funeral home in Decorah and at 3 o’clock at the Lutheran church at Burr Oak. The pastor, Rev. Jersing Thompson officiated and burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Lehman, nee Neva Daley, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Daley was born in Waterloo, Ia., July 21, 1905. When a child she moved with her parents to Iowa City where she received her education. She also took a special nurse training course at Iowa City and was employed for a time in a doctor’s office at East Moline, Ill. The three years before her marriage she spent with her aunt, Mrs. Melissa Groat at Burr Oak. May 10, 1938 she was united in marriage with J. R. Lehman at the Lutheran church in Burr Oak. They made their home in Iowa City until a year ago when they moved to the Falck farm near Ridgeway, which they purchased.

She is survived by one daughter, Neva Minerva, 5 years old, one son, John Raymond, Jr., 2 years old, her mother, Mrs. Albert Daley of Davenport, two brothers, Earl of Davenport, Vincile in the army at Tacoma, Wash., two sisters, Ruth, Mrs. Teel, of Davenport, and Ella May, Mrs. Young, of Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters. Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lehman of Adair, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lehman and Mrs. Margaret Krall of Solon and Mrs. Jas. McCullough of Chicago.
