Mrs. Ole Gilbertson

Funeral services for Mrs. Ole Gilbertson who passed away at the Decorah hospital Thursday afternoon, following a several weeks’ illness, were held at the Madison church at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon. The pastor, Rev. M. B. Quill officiated and interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Gilbertson, the daughter of the late Knute and Carrie Hovden was born in Madison township Jan. 2, 1860, where she had lived most of her life. She was baptized by the Rev. Dr. Koren at the Madison church Jan. 30, 1860 and was confirmed in the Madison church on July 4, 1879 by Rev. N. Brandt. She was united in marriage to Ole Gilbertson May 25, 1882 and to this union eight children were born, Inga Christina, (Mrs. G. Melaas, who preceded her in death a few years ago; Casper of Madison twp.; Karl Edward of Brinsmade, N. D.; Elling Alfred of Madison twp.; Oscar Anton of Brinsmade, N. D.; John Elmer of Ridgeway and Gilbert Edwin and Spencer Nordan of Madison twp. Besides her husband and the above sons, she is survived by the following brothers, John K. Hovden of Decorah, Ivan Hovden of Ridgeway, Knute Hovden, Andrew Hovden, Gilbert K. Hovden and Ed K. Hovden, all of Decorah. One sister, Mrs. Lisa Gunderson and three brothers, Anton, Martin and Oscar preceded her in death.
