Funeral services for Geo. Arthur Johnson, who passed away Sunday, were held at 1:30 o’clock at the Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. L. J. Faris officiating. Interment was made in the Ridgeway cemetery. During the services hymns were sung by a quartet.

Geo. Arthur O’Neil Johnson, youngest son of John Sethne Johnson and Annette Christopher Johnson, was born, May 30, 1883 at Davis, Ill., and passed away Sunday morning, July 23, 1939, at Ridgeway. He had been in poor health for the last year. Mr. Johnson’s parents died when he was a very young boy and he made his home with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. G. Larson of Ridgeway until he had grown to manhood. He was united in marriage to Carrie Wentworth Nov. 13, 1906. To this union was born one daughter, Anita Evelyn.

He has lived in Ridgeway for 47 years with the exception of a short time sent in Lisbon and Atkins, Ia. For 31 years he has been with the Ridgeway telephone company. He was a very successful business man and possessed a cheerful and sunny disposition which won him many friends. He was outstanding for his industry and for the love of his home. He has made the world better by his presence. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife and daughter, two brothers and two sisters, John Sethne Johnson of Plankington, S. D., Milton Johnson of Lyndonville, N. Y., Mrs. Olive Baker of Sheridan, Wyo., Mrs. Marie Albone of Lyndonville, N. Y., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides those from Cresco and Decorah, those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Herbert Chatterton of Belton, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Brown of St. Paul, J. S. Johnson of Plankington, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thomson and Julian Ellingson of Preston and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Curtis of Canton.
