Holver Fjelstul

Funeral services for Holver Fjelstul, who died Saturday at 5:30 a.m., at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson, about 4 miles southwest of Ridgeway, were held Monday afternoon at the Fjelstul funeral home in Decorah and at the Lincoln Lutheran church with the Rev. M. B. Quill officiating, assisted by Rev. Clarence Lee of Caledonia, and Rev. Casper Fjelstul of Northwood. The Misses Eleanor and Solveig Dorrum of Decorah sang hymns. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery of the church. The pallbearers were Herbert and Harold Anderson, Claude McKinley, Johnnie Fretheim, Wm. Weidow and Hadwin Albertson.

Mr. Fjelstul was born in Norway in 1856. He came to this country in 1859 with his mother and grandparents, settling on a farm southwest of Ridgeway. In 1870 he was confirmed in the Lincoln Lutheran church by Rev. N. Brandt and in 1878 he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Johnson. They settled on the Egge farm south of Ridgeway later moving back to the old homestead. To this union 11 children were born, six of whom are now living: Henry, of Alexandria, Minn., Lettie, (Mrs. Henry Albertson) of Le Roy, Mabel (Mrs. Peter L. Anderson), Alma (Mrs. Henry L. Anderson) and Raymond, all of Ridgeway and Clarence Fjelstul of Decorah. He is also survived by one brother, John of Ridgeway, 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Fjelstul was a pioneer member of the Lincoln Lutheran church and maintained an active interest in both church and community affairs. Much sympathy is extended to the family in their loss.
