Aldyce Weidow, 84, services held

Funeral services were held for Aldyce Weidow, 84, of Ridgeway, Wednesday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway with interment in Lincoln Cemetery in rural Ridgeway. Rev. Phillip Olson and A.I.M. Ginny Olson officiated. Pallbearers were Earl Albertson, Adolph Brenno, Randy Lewis, Corey Weidow, Kevin Weidow, and Lloyd Weidow. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Aldyce died April 12, 1998 at the Cresco Care Center of a sudden illness.

She was born April 29, 1913, the daughter of Peter and Mabel (Fjelstul) Anderson, at home in Sumner Township, Winneshiek County. Aldyce was baptized into the Christian faith on May 25, 1913. She was confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church on May 29, 1927.

After attending a rural country school in Sumner Township, she graduated from a three-year high school in Ridgeway in 1930, took her fourth year at Decorah High School and graduated in 1931.

On February 4, 1932 she was united in marriage to William Weidow at the Madison Lincoln Parsonage by Rev. D. C. Jordahl. They farmed together and she also worked at the Wapsie Produce in Decorah for 25 years.

Aldyce was an active member of Lincoln and Peace Lutheran Churches. On December 12, 1996 she suffered a stroke and became a resident in the nursing home until her death.

Survivors include one son, Cletus of Ridgeway; three grandchildren; two sisters: Edrie Fretheim of Decorah and Geraldine Lewis of Lime Springs.

Aldyce was preceded in death by her husband, William on September 27, 1974; her parents; and two sisters: Pauline and Harriet.
